I Love Glen Burnie Block Party this weekend

I love Glen BurnieYou know what they say: The way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. So, in its continued and unabashed outpouring of love for Glen Burnie, Abundant Life Church has called in a fleet of food trucks for a community bash that will rock the block and beyond.

The I Love Glen Burnie Block Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, on the church’s campus at 7305 E. Furnace Branch Road. The event will include live music, entertainment and games for families and food from six food trucks. Everything but the fare from the food trucks is free. Each of the food truck vendors will be donating a minimum of 5 to 15 percent of their sales to Marley Middle School and Glen Burnie High School.

“We are so excited about the block party, it’s a great way to say goodbye to summer and swap our ‘what I did for summer vacation’ stories with our neighbors,” said Shauna Drye, the Director of Care for ALC. “You don’t have to be from Glen Burnie to join in the fun: Anybody from anywhere is invited to share in the church’s outreach to show the community that we’ve got your back.”

They’ll also get to share their love for some regional food trucks many food truck foodies might have on their radar. Participating vendors and their Facebook page or website include:

·         Uncle B’s BBQ — www.facebook.com/Bsbbqtruck

·         Truck of Deliciousness — www.facebook.com/TruckOfDeliciousness

·         Glazey Days Donuts — www.glazeydaysdonuts.com

·         Chubby’s — www.eatchubbys.com

·         Diner on the Go — www.facebook.com/dineronthego

·         Pizza di Joey — http://pizzadijoey.com

School supplies and back packs will not be handed out at this event. This year, the church partnered with four Glen Burnie Elementary Schools to supply 500 back packs filled with every item on the Anne Arundel County Public Schools school supplies list for children in need.  “People who are still in need of school supplies for their children should contact their school’s front office for assistance,” Drye said.
