Historic Annapolis to hold annual meeting and preservation awards

Historic Annapolis’s Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards Ceremony is a unique opportunity for the public to get a glimpse of the organization’s amazing achievements of the past year, while also looking ahead to the future. In an event sponsored by the Loews Annapolis Hotel, Historic Annapolis who will share past accomplishments and upcoming events, and also present its annual awards to those who have gone above and beyond in the field of preservation.

The ceremony will be held at the Loews Annapolis Hotel on October 6th at 6:30 pm. Admission to the event is free and open to the public, however reservations are requested. Reservations can be made on the Historic Annapolis website at www.annapolis.org or by calling 410-267-7619.

One of the highlights of the event will be a presentation given by Willie Graham, Curator of Architecture at Colonial Williamsburg, and Bill Neudorfer, an architect at Zaras Neudorfer Architect LLC. Graham and Neudorfer will share some of the discoveries they have made since they began working on the James Brice House in June. The James Brice House, built in 1773, is currently undergoing a three-million dollar restoration.

The event will conclude with the Preservation Awards ceremony, which will recognize developers, preservationists, and good stewards who continue to preserve the history and culture of Annapolis.

“This is our opportunity to not only share some of our accomplishments of the past year, but also to recognize those who have excelled in the field of preservation,” says Robert Clark, President and CEO of Historic Annapolis. “Annapolis wouldn’t have retained this much of its unique history and culture without the hard work of dedicated professionals, business owners and homeowners.”

Historic Annapolis is currently accepting nominations for the Preservation Awards. To nominate someone for an award in the fields of development, preservation, or stewardship, please send an email to [email protected] with the nominee’s name, property address, a brief description of why the nominee is deserving of the award, and pictures of the property, if possible. Nominations will be accepted until September 23, 2016.
