Dosch powers Baysox to win, halts six game skid

baysoxBaysox third baseman Drew Dosch broke a 1-1 tie game with a two-out, two-RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Baysox to a 3-1 win over the Binghamton Mets Friday night. 

The Baysox took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the third inning against Binghamton starter Mickey Jannis. Glynn Davis hit a lead-off single to left field and stole second base before moving to third base on a Julio Borbon groundout. Chris Dickerson then plated Davis with a single to right field to make the score 1-0.

Binghamton tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning against Baysox starter Brandon Barker. Amed Rosario hit a lead-off single to right field. Matt Oberste followed with a one-out single to right field to put runners at the corners and a two-out wild pitch brought one run home to even the score.

Bowie reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning against Binghamton reliever Paul Paez. Dickerson hit a one-out single to right-center field and Garabez Rosa was then intentionally walked with two outs. Another walk to Henry Urrutia loaded the bases before Dosch won the game with a single to center field that plated two runs to make the score 3-1.

Barker threw 5.1 innings and allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks in a no decision. Reliever Jesus Liranzo followed with 1.2 scoreless innings, walking two batters and striking out two more. Reliever Bobby Bundy pitched a scoreless eighth inning to earn the win, allowing one hit and striking out one batter. Reliever Jimmy Yacabonis earned his sixth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. 

Paez took the loss for Binghamton, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks over one inning of work. 

The Baysox are home through Thursday, Sep. 1 for the final eight game homestand of the season against the Binghamton Mets and Harrisburg Senators. Saturday is Kids Appreciation Day with the pregame Touch-A-Truck event from 4:30-6:30 pm. Gates open at 5:00 for a Miss Utility Touch-A-Truck T-Shirt Giveaway and first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. RHP David Hess (4-12, 5.59) will make the start for the Baysox Saturday and he will be opposed by RHP Raul Montero (4-2, 1.70).
