Baysox 2016After the day off, the Baysox opened the doors of Prince George’s Stadium to welcome in the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to embark on their three-game series. The Fisher Cats greeted the Baysox with a 6-2 victory Tuesday evening to drop Bowie to a season-low 17 games under .500. On the night the Baysox offense was 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

The top of the fourth inning saw the evening’s first runs scored. Jason Leblebijian hit a lead-off single to right field off Baysox starter Brandon Barker and he went to second base when Derrick Loveless reached on a fielder’s choice throwing error by second baseman Garabez Rosa. A sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position before a Christian Lopes single to right field plated one run. A stolen base and throwing error by catcher Chance Sisco allowed a second run to score before Richard Urena singled to right field to plate Lopes and give the Fisher Cats a 3-0 lead.

The Baysox retaliated with two runs in the bottom half of the fifth frame. New Hampshire starter Shane Dawson walked the first three batters of the inning to load the bases before being replaced on the mound by reliever Brady Dragmire. Rosa then grounded into a double play to bring one run home, and after a Joey Terdoslavich walk, Henry Urrutia reached on an infield single to plate a second run and cut the Fisher Cats lead to 3-2.

Baysox reliever Tanner Scott came into the game to pitch the seventh inning. Jon Berti drew a one-out walk and stole second base before scoring on a Rowdy Tellez double down the left field line to make the score 4-2.

Scott walked the first two batters of the eighth inning before being replaced on the mound by Stefan Crichton. Roemon Fields then reached on a bunt single to the catcher before Crichton struck out the next two batters. Crichton almost got out of the inning unscathed, but Berti followed with a double to left field that brought two runs home to give New Hampshire a 6-2 lead.

Barker threw six innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out three batters and walking two in the loss. Scott pitched one inning and allowed three runs on one hit and four walks. Crichton pitched the final two scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three batters with one walk.

Dragmire earned the win for New Hampshire, throwing two scoreless innings and allowing two hits while striking out two and walking one batter.
