Anne Arundel County and BikeAAA announce partners for Lifeline 100 bicycle event in October

BikeAnne Arundel County Executive, Steven R. Schuh, Anne Arundel County Police Department, Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and non-profit Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis and Anne Arundel County (BikeAAA) are pleased to announce three leading charities as partners for the third annual Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 Bicycle Event. The Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, Susan G. Komen Maryland and Phoenix Patriot Foundation will each recruit riders who will raise funds for their respective organizations. The Phoenix Patriot Foundation participants will ride in memory of Patrick Feeks, a local Navy SEAL killed in action in 2012 who loved biking.

“This community event showcases the best of our beautiful county while emphasizing health and safety,” said County Executive, Steve Schuh. “The Lifeline 100 exemplifies the power of partnership by county agencies and non-profits, and I urge all citizens come join us for this award winning event on October 16th at Kinder Farm Park”. On April 12, the event was awarded Maryland My Maryland Event of the Year by the Maryland Recreation & Parks Association.

The Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 Century Ride will offer a great experience for cyclists of all levels with 100, 65, 30 and 15 mile route options as well as a free Children’s Bike Rodeo and Family Fun Ride and Community Health Fair. These routes wind throughout scenic Anne Arundel County including views of downtown Annapolis, the Severn River, southern Anne Arundel County, BWI/Marshall airport and more. The 15 and 30 mile routes are entirely on paved trails, perfect for cyclists of all levels. Participants do not have to be experienced cyclists to ride. The 15 and 30 mile trail rides are perfect for recreational riders and can be completed at any pace. Proceeds of the event will be donated to county nonprofit organizations including the Crisis Response System, Recreation Deeds for Special Needs and BikeAAA. Participants riding in support of our Non-profit Partners will also fund-raise in support of their respective causes.

The Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 Century Ride will also welcome the community through the “Make Health Happen Community Health Fair” at Kinder Farm Park with representatives from the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition, including local hospitals and public agencies. The fair will offer health screenings, fun activities for kids, families and more.

In 2015, Anne Arundel County Executive, Steven R. Schuh participated in the 65 mile route and enjoyed the fun and well stocked rest stops along with 670 other riders. The 2015 Lifeline 100 Ride and raised $21,000 for county non-profits.

Over 100 volunteers participated in every aspect of the event to ensure a safe and unique experience for all. Over 100 people visited the Health Fair.
