$90K worth of cooling coils stolen, Anne Arundel County Police make arrests

On 08/02/16 Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Metal Theft Unit (MTU) were conducting surveillance on developed suspects for recent rooftop A/C thefts which were occurring throughout the county. MTU continued their surveillance for several hours and followed the vehicle to 809 Pinnacle Dr. Linthicum.

After approximately 35 minutes MTU detectives observed the vehicle leaving at which time it was stopped by Northern District Patrol. In the bed of the vehicle were a total of 7 industrial size AC unit coils. All occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest. The AC units and damage is valued over $90,000.00.

Charles Henry Young   D.O.B. 12/14/69, Curtis Bay, MD. 21225

Keely, Kathryn Elizabeth D.O.B.12/20/84, Curtis Bay, MD. 21225

Hammer, Michael Daniel 2nd   D.O.B. 07/19/79, Curtis Bay, MD. 21225

All there suspects were charged with the following :

  • Destruction Over $1,000.00
  • Theft Over $10,000.00
  • 2nd Degree Burglary
  • 4th Degree Burglary
  • Trespassing

While being interviewed by MTU detectives the suspects confessed to other similar thefts in Anne Arundel County. Charges are pending for those cases. Further investigation also revealed that these suspects were responsible for similar thefts in other jurisdictions. No additional information is available at this time.
