Joe Walsh and JD and the Straight Shot tear up Pier Six in Baltimore

JD Straight Shot

JD Straight ShotOn August 7th, JD and the Straight Shot opened for Joe Walsh at Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore. JD and the Straight Shot is no stranger to touring with legends having toured with Springsteen, The Eagles, ZZ Top and more. But don’t think that they are “just an opener.” While most openers can be yawn-inducing fluffers for the main show, JD had the crowd at Pier Six on their feet and dancing to the tunes on their new album Ballyhoo! And there is no casual connection to headliner Joe Walsh–he produced their 2014 release, Where I’ve Been. So you knew this show was going to be a good one!

JD and the Straight Shot is fronted by James Dolan (61), who (no bullshit–look it up) is also the president and CEO of Cablevision Systems, executive chairman of Madison Square Garden, and owner of the NY Knicks. No one is sure how he finds the time to tour, much less release 5 albums since 2005!

The musicians that make up the band’s unique sound are Dolan – vocals, Erin McCarley – vocals/guitar, JJ Appleton  – guitar, Marc Copely – guitar, Byron House – bass, Alicia Enstrom – violin, and Shawn Pelton – drums.

The band’s set thrilled the crowd and left them wanting for more. JD and the Straight Shot will continue on Walsh’s tour through September.

Joe WalshJoe Walsh slayed it. There is no better way to say it. This was, without a doubt, the best concert at Pier Six of the summer. His set contained early hits from The James Gang, his solo work, and of course The Eagles with a tremendous tribute to Glen Frey who passed away earlier this year. Walsh showed a sol-out crowd why he is considered one of the premier guitar players today.

As an added treat to music lovers,  fellow guitar legend Waddy Wachtel joined Walsh on stage.

NOTE: Unfortunately due to a miscommunication, we were not able to get a photographer near the stage. Sorry!
