3rd Annual ‘Be The Band’ competition entries due on August 24

BE THE BAND BANNERThe Chesapeake Arts Center has announced its 3rd annual “Be the Band” competition, continuing its ongoing support of local music in the Maryland/ D.C area. The “Be the Band” entry deadline is August 24, 2016. Band application and rules are available on the CAC’s website at www.chesapeakearts.org. The year’s Grand Prize is $1,000 check thanks to our sponsors, The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.

Last year’s “Be the Band” competition event was sold out and included No Capes, TimeCycles, Magic Wax, Major Company, Jocelyn Faro & The Ragazzi Band , Generics & The Caraway. No Capes was voted the 2015 winner.

To enter this year’s contest each band (group of 3 or more) must submit application and one video to our Marketing Director, Nicole Caracia at [email protected] by August 24, 2016. Please include band name, names of band members, contact information, and any other information on particular interest.

Songs or instrumentals must be: Original (no covers); Bands must perform. Bands/groups selected to compete must perform four songs (at least 3 original) live, no tracking or lip syncing will be allowed. Majority of the members must live in Maryland/DC area.

Entrants will be narrowed down by the Chesapeake Arts Center’s staff. The top 15 bands selected will than advance to the “online voting” 2nd round. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite band on the Chesapeake Arts Center’s facebook page from August 26-September 2, 2016. The Top 7 bands with the most “likes” will than perform live in front of an audience and 3 judges on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 4:30pm in Studio 194 Theatre. Tickets will be able online at www.chesapeakearts.org or by calling the box office at 410-636-6597 for $10.00. The top 3 bands will than perform at the finale round on Saturday, November 6, 2016 at 7:30pm in Studio 194 Theatre.

The winner will be chosen at the finale round and reward bragging rights and a check of $1,000.
