The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities welcomed First Lady Yumi Hogan to the Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center last week.  Members of the center were extremely grateful for the visit.  In addition to the First Lady and County Executive Steve Schuh, remarks were given by several dignitaries.  Each official took a tour of the center, enjoyed a Korean-style lunch, and took part in the Korean traditions that the senior center members take pride in at the Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center.

“I want to offer my sincere thanks to Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center in Anne Arundel County for their continued record of service and dedication to our state,” said First Lady Hogan. “Senior centers are an important community resource for some of our state’s best and brightest citizens, and I was honored to witness Brooklyn Park’s incredible contributions first-hand.”

“We are fortunate to be a diverse county that understands the value that every culture can bring to our community,” stated County Executive Steve Schuh.  “It was my honor to take part in the Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center’s Korean American day, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to do so with First Lady Yumi Hogan.”

Along with the privilege of having the First Lady in attendance, many government officials also came to visit and spoke to the audience.  Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Aging, Rona Kramer, House Delegate Mark Chang (District 31), and Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities Director, Pamela Jordan, and Anne Arundel County Director of Public Works, Chris Phipps.
