Woman drives car into Magothy River

The driver of an auto escaped injury following an accident where her vehicle ended up in the Magothy River. Firefighters responded to the 200 block of Magothy Bridge Road just after 8:10 p.m. for a reported auto accident with a vehicle in the water. Firefighters located a submerged vehicle with the driver and sole occupant sitting on the roof. Witnesses reported that the vehicle left the roadway, traveled through the woods and ended up in the river. The vehicle floated a short distance before becoming submerged. Firefighters assisted the uninjured 26-year-old female driver to shore where she denied being injured and declined transport to the hospital.
