Drew Dosch registered three hits, including a triple off of the top of the right field wall in the seventh inning but it was not enough. The Baysox fell short in the series opener in Binghamton 5-2.
The big play of the game occurred with two down in the bottom of the second inning. With two men aboard, LJ Mazzilli hit a chopper towards first base. The trail runner, Victor Cruzado screened Baysox first baseman Joey Terdoslavich and the ball went by his glove into right field.
Henry Urrutia sailed a throw from right over the head of catcher Chance Sisco and starting pitcher Matthew Grimes was not behind the plate. He had headed over to first base to cover on the ground ball. Cruzado scored on the throwing error and two runs were home for the B-Mets.
Bowie trailed 4-0 into the seventh inning. Dosch then hit a one-out triple off the top of the right field wall. He scored on a groundout by Adrian Marin. The Baysox got another run on a two-out RBI-single from Quincy Latimore in the eighth. Connor Bierfeldt then struck out to end the inning stranding the tying runners aboard.
Chance Sisco, who entered the game having reached base in eight consecutive at-bats grounded out to first base in his first at-bat. Sisco went 2-for-4 with a run scored on the night. Garrett Cortright allowed a run in two innings in a solid effort out of the pen. Bierfeldt went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his Eastern League debut.
