Baysox bombarded in Binghamton

Baysox 2016Following last night’s extra-inning loss, the Baysox and Binghamton played their series-finale with two separate outlooks. For the Baysox, the goal was to attempt to salvage a win out of a trip to Binghamton and for the Mets it was to garner a series-sweep. The latter proved to come to fruition as the Baysox were doubled up in the early afternoon contest, 8-4. A seven-run fifth inning provided all the offense necessary for Binghamton to come away with the series sweep.

Dosch had another big night for Bowie. After a 2-for-3 performance today with two runs scored and two walks, he is not toting a six-game hitting streak and has registered multiple hits in his last four games.

The Baysox took the early in the second inning courtesy of a lead-off triple by Sharlon Schoop who scored in the next at bat as Chris O’Brien hit a sac-fly to center field.

The Mets responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. With two-outs Evans doubled down the left-field line and then was plated as Cruzado singled to center field.

Drew Dosch and Joey Terdoslavich both continued their hot hitting as Dosch knocked a single to lead-off the third inning. After a Chance Sisco walk, Dosch scored on a Terdoslavich single up the middle.

The fifth inning is where the game changed drastically in the Mets favor. They scored seven runs on six hits. The first six runs of the inning were charged to Baysox starter Jason Garcia and the final run of the inning was credited to reliever Jon Keller.

Garcia was credited with the loss after throwing 4.1 innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out three batters. Keller came on in relief of Garcia in the fifth and allowed one run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. Parker Bridwell, Bobby Bundy and Michael Zouzalik combined to pitch three innings of shutout ball to finish the game.

Mets starter Rafael Montero garnered his first win of the season after throwing 5.1 innings and allowing three runs on five hits while walking six and striking out four.
