Bello Machre’s Every Step Counts fundraiser brings in $150K

bellomachreBello Machre’s Every Step Counts event held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland raised over $150,000 to benefit children and adults with developmental disabilities served by Bello Machre. The family-friendly event hosted over 400 participants who walked, biked, and ran raising awareness and funds to help people with developmental disabilities in our community.

Special thanks to County Executive Steve Schuh, the event’s Honorary Chair, who greeted participants and presented the 5K awards.  Dr. Robert Ireland, President and CEO, commented, “Steve is a long time friend to Bello Machre – he is a champion for people with developmental disabilities and a huge supporter as we continue to grow.”

Dimensional HealthCare Associates led the way with a $15,000 Presenting Sponsorship.  Other major sponsors included Cattail Construction and Northern Special Care Pharmacy as our Champion Sponsors, Joanie Peacock of Champion Realty, Corporate Brokers, First National Bank, Kaiser Permanente, M&T Bank, and Merito, Inc. as our Ambassador Sponsors, and DataLink Interactive, Maryland Live! Casino, Progressive Title Corporation, and Severn Savings Bank as our Community Spirit Sponsors.  In total, $100,000 was raised through sponsorship efforts.

The Bello Machre 5K Run doubled in size with many awards and prizes presented to the fastest three times for both men and women, as well as in eight age groups.  All participants under the age of 15 received a participation medal. Special thanks to Charm City Run of Annapolis, MD for their prize donations to the 5K winners, and to Fleet Feet of Severna Park, MD for their contribution to our 5K participant packets.

Unique to this fundraising event is that individuals and teams raise money for a specific person or Bello Machre home with half of the money raised going directly back in the form of services. This is a huge help to families and individuals in our community.

Special shout out to the army of volunteers who helped to facilitate this incredible day of family fun, as well as the public safety folks at Anne Arundel Community College for making Every Step Counts 2016 the biggest and best ever.
