Baysox2016The Baysox unveiled their most complete effort of the 2016 campaign throttling Richmond 10-0 in the series opener on Monday night.

Bowie got the bats going quickly. Henry Urrutia singled on the first pitch of the ballgame and later scored on an RBI-single from Garabez Rosa. Then in the second inning, Urrutia was at it again, singling home two runners to push the Baysox advantage to 3-0. In the third inning, Chance Sisco doubled and later scored on a fielder’s choice groundout from Quincy Latimore to make it 4-0.

Making a spot start after falling out of the rotation a week ago, Jayson Aquino (2-4) stood tall. The 23-year old lefty was dynamic working eight scoreless innings. Aquino allowed four hits and struck out six batters in the victory. His effort was of even greater importance with two doubleheaders lurking for Bowie in the next five days. His eight-inning outing matches a season-high for a Baysox starter.

The Baysox would open the game up for good in the fifth inning with a four-run rally. It started  with a bunt single from Rosa followed by a double from Latimore. Bowie had a run in on a Joey Terdoslavich groundout when Drew Dosch tripled home two more. A wild pitch would plate the fourth run of the frame posting an 8-0 lead for the Baysox.

Bowie added two more runs in the eighth inning to complete the scoring. Jimmy Yacabonis worked a scoreless ninth inning in his Eastern League debut. The Baysox finished the month of May with a 9-19 record.
