Bowie Baysox shut down by Harrisburg 4-2

Baysox2016Bowie hung in there on Friday night but could not battle back against the Harrisburg bullpen in a 4-2 series opening defeat. Three Senators relievers combined to retire 12 consecutive hitters over four innings to hold the small advantage.

The Baysox fell behind in the opening inning. Senators Chris Bostick doubled off of the glove of diving centerfielder Glynn Davis to bring home two runs. They added a run on a bloop RBI-double from Adrian Sanchez in the fourth inning.

Still the start from Jayson Aquino was solid as he worked six innings allowing three runs on eight hits. In the fifth inning the Baysox rallied.

Against Senators top-ranked prospect Lucas Giolito, Drew Dosch homered into the Harrisburg bullpen in right field to put Bowie on the board. Trailing 3-1, Davis singled and stole second and with two down scored on an RBI-double to left-center off the bat of Adrian Marin. The Marin drive just missed getting out to tie the game.

Unfortunately it would be Bowie’s last hit. Ashur Tolliver allowed a run on a Neftali Soto home run in the eighth. He worked 1 and 2/3rd innings. Eric Fornataro came in and got a big out to strand the bases loaded in the eighth inning keeping the Baysox in the game.

The series continues Saturday, May 21st at 6:00 p.m. with David Hess getting the starting nod. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior to first pitch on 1430-WNAV and 99.9 FM in Annapolis.

The Baysox return home for Memorial Day Weekend against the Altoona Curve. The four-game series begins Friday, May 27th and includes fireworks, a helicopter candy drop and much, much more! Get tickets now at baysox.com
