Baysox see one slip away in Richmond

Baysox2016It seemed like the Baysox had secured a solid Wednesday evening win in Richmond when in an instant it slipped away.

A throw to first to end the game in the bottom off the ninth inning went off the top of the glove of Joey Terdoslavich, allowing the tying run to score. An inning later it was over with Richmond celebrating an improbable walk-off win.

Leading 3-2 in the ninth inning, Baysox reliever Ashur Tolliver allowed a broken bat double from Rando Moreno with one down. With two retired, Tyler Horan hit the slow chopper to the right side. Corban Joseph charged and the Baysox second baseman hurried a head high throw that glanced off the top of the glove of Terdoslavich and went skidding into foul ground. Moreno scored with ease to tie the game.

In the tenth inning, the Baysox loaded the bases with consecutive singles and a fielding error on a Quincy Latimore bunt with no outs. But Richmond reliever Dan Slania danced out of the jam getting a strikeout, and two groundouts to end the threat.

Richmond loaded the bases against Baysox reliever Garrett Cortright in the bottom of the tenth. With a single, a sac bunt with a throwing error and an intentional walk. With one down, Carlos Moncrief ended the game with a line drive single to center.

Parker Bridwell worked well going six innings while allowing a run on six hits. Corban Joseph registered two hits to extend his hit streak to 18 games. That is four games shy of the Baysox record held by Lou Montanez (22 games) in 2008.

The series concludes Thursday morning with Chris Lee starting the 10:35 a.m. game. Coverage will begin 20-minutes prior to first pitch with the Baysox On-Deck Show prior on wnav.com and via the Tune-In Radio App by searching Baysox.
