Baysox fall short in sweep attempt in Harrisburg

Baysox 2016The Baysox rally attempt fell short on Sunday afternoon as Harrisburg took the series finale by a 9-3 final score.

Harrisburg led early 4-0 but the Baysox battled back. Bowie got a fifth inning run on a two-out, RBI-single from Jimmy Paredes. In the sixth, the Baysox nearly came all the way back. Chris O’Brien singled home a run with one down to get the Baysox within 4-2. Later in the inning, Mike Yastrzemski worked a two-out, bases loaded walk to get with one run. It would be as close as the Baysox got in the game.

The Senators blew the game open late with the long ball. In the sixth inning, Brenden Webb hit his forst Eastern League home run to make it 5-3. Zach Collier put the game away with a two-run eighth inning home run to make it 9-3 late.

Baysox starter Jason Garcia (1-3) worked six innings for a first time this season. He allowed five runs on eight hits in the start. Corban Joseph singled in the ninth inning to extend his hit streak to 15 games.

The Baysox now head to Richmond, VA for the second leg of their road trip. Jayson Aquino starts Monday, May 2nd at 6:35 p.m. for Bowie in the series opener. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior on wnav.com and via the Tune-In Radio App by searching Baysox.
