Businesses invited to learn how to have a successful summer

geistTo help ensure area businesses enjoy as successful a summer season as possible, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (VAAAC) has invited nationally recognized tourism industry leader Bill Geist to share with them his expertise on destination marketing, management and partnerships at Rams Head On Stage on Tuesday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m.

VAAAC President and CEO Connie Del Signore says Geist will provide all interested individuals with strategies on how Annapolis and Anne Arundel County businesses can work together to expand their share of the nation’s $2.1 trillion travel industry. According to Del Signore, “Six million individuals visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel county annually. They spend $3.4 billion while they’re here, and they support nearly 30,000 local jobs. By working smart as a team, we can grow the numbers in the years ahead for the benefit of all.” Del Signore says taxes generated by visitor spending save each Anne Arundel County taxpayer $405 in additional taxes.

Geist is the Chief Instigator at DMOproz (aka Zeitgeist Consulting). His firm specializes in strategic planning, governance, marketing and legislative issues for convention and visitor bureaus, tourism-focused chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and communities. He has provided consulting services to more than 180 destination marketing organizations since 1995 and is a popular speaker on marketing trends and customer service across North America.

Prior to forming Zeitgeist Consulting, Geist served as President and CEO of the Greater Madison, Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau from 1990 to 1995. Earlier in his professional career, Geist held various management and programming positions with broadcast media outlets in the Chicago area.

Geist’s presentation is open to the public. Space is limited and reservations are required. Reservations are being accepted through Tuesday, April 19, at [email protected].

VAAAC is a nonprofit, membership-based destination marketing organization that generates revenues for the local economy by promoting Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay to leisure and business travelers across the country and around the world.
