After Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman’s arrest and subsequent release, his wife (the alleged victim) posted a message to Facebook lauding the sheriff and indicating that it was just a marital spat.

This seems to be a contradiction to her previous post to Facebook where she indicated that she and Bateman has split up.

Mrs. Bateman’s Facebook has since been deleted or deactivated.

Her statement defending her husband is a further contradiction to the police report which indicated that she was indeed injured and the arresting officers witnessed damage to the house.  Anne Arundel County Chief of Police stated that her injuries were “not serious” yet indicative of “violence.”  Police also took a statement from Mrs. Bateman’s teenage son who stated that he saw Sheriff Bateman holding his mother down.

Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams has deferred the decision on any potential prosecutor to an outside entity to avoid any conflicts of interest.

Sheriff Ron Bateman has just released a statement denying that there was any assault and that it was only an “emotional family dispute.”
