AYC and EYC coming together to fight leukemia

The Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society kicked off the 24th Annual Annapolis Leukemia Cup Regatta with a Kickoff Celebration at a beautiful, historic Annapolis home which boasted gorgeous views of the Severn River Thursday evening, March 24, 2016. The kickoff was attended by some of Annapolis’ most elite in sailing which included: Sailing legend and National Leukemia Cup Chairman, Gary Jobson and Commodores Heather Ersts from EYC and Debbie Gosselin from AYC. The night featured powerful speeches from Gary Jobson, Harbor 20 sailor Patrick Shannon, and Sailing Chairman John Dodge, highlighting the importance of participation and the impact of every dollar raised in the Leukemia Cup. Motivation, collaboration and inspiration were themes of the evening, inspiring the guests with passion to get ready to fundraise.

Celebrating its 24th anniversary, the Annapolis Leukemia Cup, presented by SunTrust Bank is an exhilarating event that started in Annapolis in 1993 and has spread to over 45 sailing communities across the country. This year’s Leukemia Cup events begin on June 3, 2016 at The Maritime Museum, and Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis, Maryland. The goal is to raise $275,000 for the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Regatta combines the excitement of competitive sailing with the important goal of raising money to fight blood cancers. This important community event will be kicked off at the Leukemia Cup Summer Gala, live and silent auction hosted by the Maritime Museum and run by Chef Michael and the AYC team on Friday June 3 from 6:30pm-9:30pm. This popular event will feature Goslings Rum, wine, beer, elegant hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. Open to the public, tickets are $95. On Saturday, June 4, the day kicks off with the Regatta at 10:00am which attracted more than 103 boats in 2015. Later in the day the post-race awards Rock the Dock for a Cure Party featuring live entertainment by Pressing Strings and Swamp Donkey Newgrass will be held at the Eastport Yacht Club starting at 4:00pm. General admission tickets to the event are just $25 and includes a BBQ dinner and 1 drink ticket. All-Inclusive tickets are $65 and include a barbecue dinner and an open bar. The public is encouraged to attend this festive, fun and important live-saving event.
