Anne Arundel County Sheriff, Ron Bateman

Anne Arundel County’s sheriff has ben arrested by County police and charged with 2nd degree assault in connection with a “domestic issue” at his home in Pasadena.

According to the Quinton Report, he was taken into custody last night around 7:00pm.

Bateman has been the elected  sheriff for Anne Arundel County since December 2006. After the most recent election as a Democrat, Bateman switched his political affiliation to Republican causing a political stir with his democrat supporters.

Bateman became known for his unconventional methods at arresting those with outstanding warrants. One year his office promised tax refunds to arrestees if they just showed up to the courthouse; another year he made unexpected  floral deliveries on Valentines Day.

The Anne Arundel County Police did not immediately release any specific information on the arrest.

Bateman re-married  in May of 2015. From a Facebook status from his wife, posted publicly on April 9th, it appears that this incident may have happened on the evening of April 8th or early in the morning on April 9th.
