Woman killed by train, officer hit by car last night in Anne Arundel

Woman Killed By Train

An adult female was killed in Ferndale Tuesday evening after apparently being struck by a light rail train. Around 6:50 p.m. firefighters responded to the area of Route 648 and Hollins Ferry Road for a reported pedestrian struck. Arriving firefighters located an adult female near the light rail bridge at that intersection. The patient was deceased on the scene. The Mass Transit Administration Police are the primary investigating agency.

Pedestrian Struck Annapolis

An officer with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police was seriously injured after being struck on Route 50 Tuesday evening. Just before 6:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the area of Route 50 East and Whitehall Road for a reported pedestrian struck.

Arriving firefighters located a motor vehicle collision in which a vehicle hit a parked police car which then struck the officer and a second person standing in front of the car. The male police officer was transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to Shock Trauma with injuries which were serious but not believed life-threatening.

The second patient was transported to Queen Annes Emergency Center with minor injuries, and the driver of the striking vehicle was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries. The Maryland Transportation Authority Police are the primary investigating agency.
