Nick was 14 when he started drinking with his mother. In a few short years, he was using heroin. His story is one of several from local men working toward addiction recovery featured in a new video released by the Samaritan House in Annapolis.
The Samaritan House provides services to adult men who are struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. Founded over 40 years ago, the state-certified program at the Samaritan House is the next step in recovery for men who are medically stabilized and have either completed inpatient treatment or are referred through the legal system, mental health agency, medical facility or self-referral.
There have been 318 reported opioid overdoses in Anne Arundel County since 2014, with 249 due to heroin. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has declared heroin a statewide crisis. Samaritan House is currently implementing an expansion plan to help meet the growing demand.
