Fair Farms and Annapolis Green bringing screening of “In Defense of Food” to Maryland Hall

In-Defense-of-Food1Fair Farms and Annapolis Green are pairing up to bring Michael Pollan’s Documentary “In Defense of Food” to Maryland Hall in Annapolis on March 22.

A panel discussion and audience Q&A on the local food scene will follow the film.

Film Screening: “In Defense of Food”:

March 22, 6 to 8 p.m. at Maryland Hall in Annapolis

This is a special, one-time screening of a film that explores one of the most basic human questions: “What Should I Eat?”

In the film, “In Defense of Food,” best-selling author Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma) looks at food in America — and how we decide what to buy and eat. Pollan looks closely at the Western diet. Much of our “food” has been replaced by nutrients and science instead of real food. According to Pollan, this introduces a paradox: the more we worry about nutrition, the less healthy we become.

Pollan offers a simple solution: “Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants.”

A Q&A will follow the screening. Beer and wine will be available for sale.

Proceeds from the screening will cover the cost of showing the film.
