AA Department of Aging to offer free diabetes workshops

DiabetesThe Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities and University of MD Baltimore Washington Medical Center will be partnering to present a free Diabetes workshop next month.  The workshop will be held at Shoprite of Glen Burnie, 6716 Governor Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD.  

The “Living Well With Diabetes” workshop is appropriate for participants with Pre-Diabetes, or Type 2 Diabetes.  This program teaches participants how to manage their blood sugar levels, count carbohydrates and provides information about reading nutrition labels.  It also educates the participants about appropriate exercise, how to prevent complications from diabetes and how to manage symptoms associated with both high and low blood sugar levels.     

Over the course of 6 weeks, participants come once a week for 2.5 hours.  Classes are interactive and educational.  Classes will be held in the Meeting Room, inside the café entrance at Shoprite. The workshop series takes place April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5, May 12, from 10 AM – 12:30 PM.  Workshop space is limited.  Registration is required.
