More than 300 support Hertitage Baptist’s SOUPer Bowl

SOUPer Bowl serving lineOver 300 people turned out Sunday afternoon for the 10th Annual SOUPer Bowl Lunch at Heritage Baptist Church, raising $3000 for the Light House Homeless Prevention and Support Center in Annapolis.

“The $3000 raised this year is a new record for us,” said Rev. Stephen Price, interim pastor at Heritage Baptist. “We deeply appreciate the support for the SOUPer Bowl from the community and the Heritage Baptist volunteers each year. We hope everyone joins us again in 2017 for great soup for a great cause.”

Students from the Light House BEST Culinary Job Training Program ladled soups prepared by award-winning Chef Zachary Pope of Blackwall Hitch during the two-hour event. Guests enjoyed a selection of chili, chicken noodle or baked potato soups along with salad, bread and dessert. There was no admission fee, but donations were requested to help the Light House.

Heritage Baptist Church is an affiliate congregational partner of the shelter, offering support and resources throughout the year.
