6th Annual Marine & Maritime Career Fair scheduled for February 27th

EycFoundationThe 6th Annual Marine & Maritime Career Fair will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 12pm-3pm at the Annapolis High School Cafeteria and Auditorium. The Marine and Maritime Career Fair is a unique 3 hour event that is free for students in grades 6-12 as well as college students. Attendees get the opportunity to network with professionals and entrepreneurs, attend special sessions with mentors from across marine and maritime professions, learn about the education and training needed for career pathways and win fun door prizes all afternoon. Student pre-registration is open at eycfoundation.org and makes students eligible for the Grand Door prizes (SUP’s) and registration gift bags upon arrival.

The benefits of bringing students to this event are huge. Exhibitors will share their knowledge and expertise about careers connected to the Chesapeake Bay and our nation’s oceans, rivers and lakes spanning the marine sciences, naval architecture, marine trades and the maritime industry.  Students will also have the opportunity to talk with 2-4 year colleges, technical training programs, government agencies (federal, state and local), non-profits and the military about an array of career paths. Scholarship resources for high school graduates will also be available through the Eastport Yacht Club Foundation.

“We are committed to educate students on pathways into marine and maritime careers through the Annual Marine & Maritime Career Fair in Annapolis,” said Tim Wilbricht, Chairman of the 2016 Career Fair. “Students from Maryland and surrounding states have a multitude of job opportunities where they can make a good living and work in the communities where they grew up. Economic growth across the marine and maritime fields needs a solid workforce and it is our job to educate them early and often about the many opportunities.”

The career fair is presented annually by the Eastport Yacht Club Foundation (EYCF), Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) and the National Sailing Hall of Fame (NSHOF).  Our kick-off Sponsors for 2016 include J Gordon & Company, Inc. & Hinckley Yacht Services.

Additional information and Registration LINKS for Exhibitors, Sponsors, Students (free) and Volunteers are available at eycfoundation.org.  In addition, you will find links to our YouTube Video from last year’s event and a STUDENT POSTER to hang in your schools and communities.
