Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Exploring Program
Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.
The program helps youth to gain insight into a variety of police activities. Participants learn what police officers do, and receive hands-on training in a variety of police activities; in addition, they learn leadership skills, and can earn community service hours and have opportunities for college scholarships. Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services
Would you like to make a difference in one year of the life of a child? The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services’ Mentoring Program is especially looking for male volunteers to mentor youth. Mentors are matched with a youth between the ages of 8-20 years old. Mentors are positive caring adult role models who provide guidance and support in a one-on-one relationship. Epilepsy Foundation, April 16, 2016 Walk
The Epilepsy Foundation is a national voluntary health agency dedicated solely to the welfare of the nearly 3 million people living with epilepsy in the U.S. and their families. We work to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; to improve how people with epilepsy are perceived, accepted and valued in society; and to promote research for a cure. This is a one-time volunteer opportunity, on the day of the Walk taking place on April 16th on the grounds of the Washington National Monument in Washington, DC. Jug Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
10:00am – 11:30am, Fri, Mar. 4, 2016, Volunteer Recruitment Training: Come be part of the amazing volunteer team at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary! Participants will learn about the volunteer, stewardship and citizen science opportunities that await them here at Jug Bay and we will follow up the training with a hike on our beautiful trails. This nonprofit, established in 1951, is part of a network of neighborhood community concert associations throughout the United States. Men of Courage International, Inc.
This Annapolis-based nonprofit is dedicated to helping men fulfill their duties as fathers, husbands, and community leaders around the world by providing a safe place for men to talk about how to reach their goal of achieving authentic manhood. Its “Strong Dads” Program partners with local schools to educate and support fathers (grandfathers, uncles, male guardians) in the role they play at schools, in their homes, and in the community at large. The organization provides inspiration and motivation for the fathers by holding events featuring an inspirational speaker, Q&A, live entertainment, and activities that give them the tools they need to continue to grow in their roles as men. They will also have the opportunity to enjoy local foods, live entertainment, sign up for free services and listen to informative and educational speeches from key members of the community. Moveable Feast
This nonprofit prepares and delivers meals to clients who are homebound with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers, as young as 16 (15 & under w/adult) are needed to deliver meals Mon.– Fri. between 9 am–1 pm. Meal delivery takes about 1 hour and drivers have flexibility in setting their schedules. Volunteers are asked to deliver once a week. There are also numerous other opportunities such as kitchen assistants, bakers, gardeners, and more. [if !supportLists]· [endif]May 14-15, 2015, Ride for the Feast 2016 Fundraiser: A variety of volunteers are needed for this event encompassing two days and 140 miles of road biking from Ocean City to Moveable Feast headquarters in east Baltimore, MD. Crew members are needed for events and support leading up to the event, as well as on the days of the ride. The later include assisting at overnight stop areas, working pit stops, support and gear drivers (SAG), repair technicians, medical team, and helping at the closing ceremony in Baltimore. Riders will be riding through Anne Arundel County on that Sunday, May 15, where support will be needed.
