Severn Savings bank hires two local residents

Severn Bank recently announced that native Annapolitan, Brian Wood, and lifelong Anne Arundel County resident, Erik Chick joined their lending team. Both men join the bank as Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager. They will be managing commercial loan portfolios and establishing new commercial real estate and commercial banking relationships.

Mr. Wood has 28 years of banking experience, 15 of them previously with Severn Bank, including commercial and business lending. He has also been a realtor with Champion Realty. Mr. Wood is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Johns Hopkins University. He was a 4 time All American lacrosse player and won 3 NCAA Championships. He received the highest recognition when he was inducted into the U.S. National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2007. Mr. Wood is an active community member serving as a youth and high school coach and on the boards of many local non-profits.

Mr. Chick has 20 years of banking experience specializing in business banking and commercial real estate lending. He has worked in the Baltimore/Washington and Anne Arundel County region, specifically in Annapolis, for an extended time. Mr. Chick graduated from Johns Hopkins University, where he was captain of the lacrosse team, as well as East Carolina University/RMA Commercial Lending School. He was named a Top Banker by Smart CEO in 2012/2013. Mr. Chick is a former YMCA of Anne Arundel County board member, and is currently coaching and volunteering with youth recreational sports in the county.

Commenting on the expansion of the team, Alan J. Hyatt, President and Chief Executive Officer, remarked, “both Brian and Erik are seasoned banking professionals and we welcome them to the Severn team. They are both well-known and highly respected in our community. They will quickly succeed in establishing good commercial relationships with local businesses for Severn.” Mr. Wood currently lives in Annapolis with his wife and two sons. Mr. Chick currently resides in Edgewater with his wife and three children.
