The Hospice Cup – America’s original charity regatta – is looking for artwork to represent Hospice Cup XXXV. Artist should submit original artwork to The Circle Gallery, 18 State Circle, Annapolis, MD by March 8, 2016. There are no specific size regulations for entries and artist can submit up to 3 pieces.
All entries will be displayed in the Gallery and a “Selection Reception” will be held on Thursday, March 10 from 6-8pm. The public is invited to attend the reception and vote on their favorite.
The selected artwork is donated to Hospice Cup, Inc. to use in marketing and media for the Regatta. The selected art is auctioned off at Hospice Cup XXXV’s Shore Party to be held Saturday, September 17, 2016. Hospice Cup creates posters, ad materials and t-shirts from the image.
The annual Hospice Cup regatta is a cooperative effort. It is organized by the all-volunteer Hospice Cup, Inc.(HCI) Board of Directors, an Executive Director, participating area hospices and many of volunteers. The race is coordinated and run by Annapolis and Eastport Yacht Clubs.
The 2016 participating hospices include: Hospice of the Chesapeake, Capital Caring, and Montgomery Hospice. Each hospice must meet the standards of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
The Hospice Cup race is sanctioned by the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association (CBYRA) and counts for CBYRA season-long High Point competition. Hospice Cup, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization chartered under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia for the purposes of conducting a benefit yacht race and related events. Hospice Cup, Inc. is also a proud member of the National Hospice Regatta Alliance.
Entering its 35th year of racing on the Chesapeake Bay, the Hospice Cup has raised more than $8 million to support Hospice programs in local communities around the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. area. Hospice Cup funds help to pay the expenses not covered by Medicare or private insurance. These dollars enable the hospices to provide skilled compassionate care, comfort and dignity to the terminally ill, their families and friends, regardless of their ability to pay.
