Traffic stop leads to drug and weapons arrest in Motel 6

Penny, ChristianOn December 29, 2015 at approximately 10:30 p.m., detectives from Western District’s Tactical Patrol Unit initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of the Motel 6 located at 3510 Old Annapolis Road Laurel.  After stopping the vehicle, the driver appeared to be very nervousness and a drug canine was requested. At the same time that the canine alerted on the vehicle to the presence of illegal drugs, the driver freely admitted to having drugs on his person.  A search was conducted and detectives recovered from the driver, (15) small individually packaged bags of crack-cocaine and a very small amount of marihuana. A search of the center console of the vehicle revealed a fully loaded Ruger 9mm handgun with 15 rounds.  The suspect was found to be prohibited from possessing a firearm.  He was arrested and charged accordingly.

Suspect:  Christian Pierre Penny, 28 of Burtonsville Maryland
