Spirit Airlines shows strong growth at BWI

bwilogoSpirit Airlines announced today that it will offer nonstop service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and two new markets—Boston Logan International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Airport.  The new Spirit service is scheduled to start on April 21, 2016.

“We welcome this further expansion from Spirit Airlines,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall.  “Spirit continues to add ultra-low fare service at BWI Marshall, which means more travel flexibility and convenience for our customers.”

Boston and Detroit will be the 11th and 12th markets served by Spirit Airlines from BWI Marshall.  The airline recently announced that it would start service between BWI Marshall and Orlando in January 2016.  The airline shifted its regional operation from Reagan National Airport to BWI Marshall in September 2012 with flights to two destinations, Fort Lauderdale and Dallas/Fort Worth.

Spirit will fly two daily round-trip flights between BWI Marshall and Boston, and one daily roundtrip flight between BWI Marshall and Detroit.  The airline offers ultra-low base airfares, with a number of optional, fee-based services.
