SantaCon2014-20If you have ever needed a good reason to dress up in a Santa suit in the middle of the day, a group of young do-gooders have a real doozy for you.  Annapolis SantaCon.

Now in its third year, SantaCon is a pub crawl wherein people dressed as Santa Claus or other Christmas characters parade from one watering hole to another all while raising money for the Chesapeake Kids program.  The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, and is hosted by Hospice Hundred, an organization of youthful philanthropists with a mission to serve the programs of Hospice of the Chesapeake and to have a real good time doing it.

SantaCon is a worldwide event, held in hundreds of other cities in dozens of countries. And just like its global inspiration, Annapolis SantaCon is getting bigger every year.

It all begins with a VIP pre-party at 11 a.m. at Ram’s Head Tavern, 33 West St., before heading through downtown Annapolis to Harbor Grill, 12 Dock St., for a group photo at 12:45 p.m.  Then it’s off to bar after bar, where people can purchase raffle tickets, buy commemorative SantaCon 2015 swag and have other opportunities to make donations. Please bring cash if you intend to purchase raffle tickets, which cost $5, or make donations. Also, a portion of the proceeds from participating bars will go to Chesapeake Kids at Hospice of the Chesapeake, which provides quality perinatal and pediatric palliative care to children and their families in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties.

For more information about the Chesapeake Kids program, please visit www.hospicechesapeake.org or www.hospicehundred.org.

St. Nicholas would never drive under the influence, and neither should SantaCon participants – that’s why Hospice Hundred has arranged an Uber deal for safe fundraising fun. New users can use the promo code, “SantaCon15” to get $20 off an Uber ride on the day of the event.

The SantaCon schedule is as follows:

  • 11 a.m. – VIP Pre-Party at Ram’s Head Tavern
  • 12:45 p.m. – Group photo at Harbor Grill
  • 1 to 3 p.m. — McGarvey’s Saloon and Oyster Bar

  • 3 to 5 p.m. — Federal House Bar and Grill
