On December 21, 2015 at approximately 11:30 a.m. officers responded to the 4000 block of Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn Park for an animal incident.  Upon arrival, the officers met with the victim who stated the building was a multi dwelling residence broken up into interior apartments. The victim advised officers that prior to their arrival, she had attempted to assist another resident who had locked themselves out of the front door.  The victim left her apartment/room and opened the front door for the other resident who had their pit bull with them on a leash.

As the resident and pit bull entered the building, the victim’s dog (poodle) exited the victim’s room/apartment and the two dogs met in the hallway.  As the dogs met, the pit bull began attacking the poodle. Both the victim and the other resident stated that by the time they could separate the dogs, the pit bull had killed the poodle.  Animal Control responded and took custody of the pit bull and is conducting an investigation. The victim sustained minor injuries to her hand while trying to separate the dogs.
