Officials at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport announced that 2,114,532 people flew in and out of the airport in October, marking its fourth-straight record- setting month for passenger traffic. This number represents a 9.7 percent increase over October 2014.
“BWI Marshall continues to grow and set new records, highlighting its position as an international gateway and economic engine for the State of Maryland,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “Our administration is focused on ensuring that BWI Marshall remains an efficient transportation resource for the entire region.”
For the past four months, BWI Marshall has exceeded previous year’s passenger traffic numbers. July saw an increase of 9.1 percent over July 2014, for a new all-time monthly record. In August and September, passenger traffic rose 5 percent and 6.8 percent respectively when compared to the same months last year.
Increases in international traffic continue to drive the record-setting growth at BWI Marshall. International passengers rose 29.6 percent in October and total cargo shipments for October rose 11.2 percent to 23.6 million pounds for the month.
“We continue to add new airlines and new air service,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall. “We remain committed to providing a world-class airport experience for our customers.”

Earlier this month, airport officials announced the inaugural flights of Norwegian, representing the third international carrier to start service in 2015, and the fifth and sixth new international destinations at BWI Marshall this year.
