Navy defeats Army for the 14th consecutive time

The scoreboard said it all after 60 minutes of play. Navy – 21.  Army – 17.

But it did not always seem that easy.  Army came prepared to win the 116th Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia and for a while it looked like they were going to do just that and give Navy their 3rd defeat in what has been called by Coach Ken Niumatololo a “special year.”

Navy QB Keenan Reynolds struggled at times, but in the end still managed to add two more touchdowns to his NCAA record.  Going into the second half, Navy was down by 3 and took the lead with a pass to Jamir Tillman.

The rest of the game was about turnovers and a strong Army defense that kept Navy from scoring. In the end, Navy and the Midshipmen sang second, sending Army home for another long, dark bus ride to West Point.

As always, the Army-Navy Game is full of tradition from the march-on to the flyovers, to the singing of the schools’ alma maters. Secretary of Defense, Ash Carter, was on hand to perform the coin toss, and Eye On Annapolis was catching the action in our live blog as well as on the field.
