Tickets for tables of 10 are on sale now for 13th annual Black Tie and Diamonds gala hosted by the Rotary Club of Annapolis. The benefit will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2015, at Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West Street, in Annapolis. This year’s beneficiary will be Seeds4Success.
Seeds4Success, Inc. (S4S) began in 2008 as Eastport Girls Club, a grassroots after-school program formed by a group of local women determined to create more positive opportunities for youth living in Annapolis public housing. In 2012, S4S became a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
From 2008 to 2014, S4S has grown from a loosely-defined after-school group to a research-based, results-oriented multi-program organization. In 2012, Eastport Girls Club, an S4S program, was selected as the Best Community-Based Mentoring Program in Anne Arundel County. Also in 2012, S4S received the Fannie Lou Hamer Award, honoring women from various racial backgrounds who have demonstrated a propensity toward social justice. S4S is the first organization to receive this award.
S4S currently has three programs: Eastport Girls Club, I Am a Reader, and Parent Challenge.
The Rotary Club of Annapolis has sponsored the Black Tie and Diamonds event for 12 years, donating more than $350,000 to local non-profits and charities. Tickets are $1,500 for a table of 10. The tickets include cocktails, sit-down dinner and wine, as well as music and dancing. A silent auction, a live auction, and raffle are planned. Individual tickets at $150 will be sold after Jan. 1, 2016.
