Annapolis police Churchton man after chase and seizure

AnnapolisPoliceAnnapolis Police Department officers responded to the the 700 block of Newtowne Drive yesterday at 2:15pm for a report of two men wearing masks and dark clothing threatening someone with handguns. 

When officers arrived they located Marlin Simms, 28, of Churchton wearing a black facemask and dark clothing.  Officers approached Simms and he ran away, holding onto a bulge in his waistband. 

An officer in a vehicle struck Simms as he ran across a parking lot.  Simms continued to run, trying to enter a cab, but officers caught up to him and discovered a loaded handgun in his waistband. 

During the arrest Simms started to have convulsions and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.  He was treated and released. 

Simms also had marijuana and cocaine in his pockets.  Simms was charged with 14 criminal counts including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $300,000 bond.
