Annapolis Glow Salon to shake up the industry with new model

GlowWhen  Glow opened fifteen years ago, email was optional, the hottest clamshell cell phones were tiny and having a website was exotic. My how times have changed and Glow has produced some great salon owners — Mat Hudson of Hudson Fouquet, Rodney Laws of Rodney Laws Studio, Julianne Baddock and Justin Dove of Levity, Scott Palmer of the former Layman Larue and Shelby Grambo of Gossip — as well as many other stylists that have taken their talents from the doors of Glow to all corners of the world.

Now, in 2016, Glow is beginning an exciting new path, one that was not foreseen fifteen years ago.

PT Sevin, Glow’s creative owner, keeps an eye on all aspects of the industry. The fastest growing trend in professional beauty is not a haircut or color, but how and where stylists work. The salon studio model is exploding and it is estimated that 50% of all individual beauty professionals will be operating within their own studios by 2018. Multiple stylists, massage therapists and skin care experts own their own self-contained upscale mini-salons under one roof. This allows established professionals to partner together as independent salons in order to spend time pursuing their individual areas of passion, lifestyle and professional interests.

Glow has been working with Symmetry Salon Studios, a locally owned luxury salon suite company, to bring the first salon suite model to Annapolis within the current GLOW space. Sevin will operate a large eight chair studio and work with motivated stylists to grow their talents and offer clients the best experience possible within a traditional high end salon experience. They plan to continue to grow their membership offering to reward loyalty with easy and affordable access to luxury services. PT’s salon will be surrounded by over 30 suites that will house the Annapolis area’s most talented and established beauty professionals in an ideal balance of creative independence and collaboration.

Commenting n the changes, Sevin reminisces, “As we look back and appreciate our first fifteen years, we also look forward to the next fifteen years in this exciting and ever changing industry. As always, we want to provide our clients with the best the beauty industry has to offer!”
