On October 25, 2015 at 2:20 am, officers responded to Blandford Way, near Gresham Lane in Davidsonville for a report of a single vehicle crash. Due to the serious nature of the driver’s injuries, crash investigators from the Traffic Safety Section responded and assisted with the initial investigation.

Investigation revealed a Honda Ridgeline operated by Joshua Robert Olshaw, a 17 year old male juvenile, was traveling southbound on Blandford Way when it failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. The Honda left the roadway, struck a tree, and came to rest in the north bound lane of Blandford Way.

The preliminary cause of the crash was the driver’s failure to remain in a single lane and negotiate a curve in the roadway. Speed and alcohol are contributing factors.

The juvenile driver was transported to Shock Trauma by State Police Helicopter. On October 25, 2015 at 11:26 am the juvenile driver died from the injuries he sustained in the collision.

Investigation will be continued by the Traffic Safety Section.

Olshaw was a 2015 graduate of South River High School and was a freshman at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA.
