The Anne Arundel County CROP Hunger Walk is an interfaith hunger education and fundraising event sponsored by Church World Service (CWS) and organized by local community volunteers from the United Church of Christ of Annapolis. 20-25% of funds raised will benefit the Maryland Food Bank with the remaining funds benefitting the global hunger initiative.
All Anne Arundel County area churches, public and private organizations and individuals are encouraged to form walking teams to raise funds for the CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM; registration begins at 12:30PM. Walkers will gather at the Severna Park Community Center located at 623 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park, MD 21146 and walk the Baltimore Annapolis (B&A) Trail to the Earleigh Heights Station and back for a total a 4.6 miles. Locally, CROP Hunger Walks benefit The Maryland Food Bank, a nonprofit hunger-relief organization, leading the movement to end hunger throughout Maryland. For more than 35 years, the food bank aims to meet the immediate needs of Marylanders while simultaneously working to find long-term ways to reduce hunger statewide – currently distributing more than 100,000 meals per day. Globally, Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools, to wells and water systems, to technical training and micro-enterprise loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths and their needs something CWS has learned through some 68 years of working in partnership around the world.
