A multi-cultural group from China will present a free program of songs and dances titled “Colorful China” Sunday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. in Frances Scott Key Auditorium St. John’s College, 60 College Ave in Annapolis.
The program will feature performers in colorful costumes singing traditional songs and dancing to music representative of the 56 ethnic groups of China.
Titled “For the Peace”, the performance features dancers, musicians and ancient instruments covering the 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. The program is based on extensive research of the country’s ethnic groups by the Chinese National Museum of Ethnology.
Colorful China has been performed in major venues throughout Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States. Audiences leave with a better understanding and appreciation of China’s deep heritage, large land, and many diverse ethnic groups.
Colorful China is presented by World Artists Experiences, a non-profit organization that bridges cultures and people using the arts as an international language. The performance is in partnership with the Embassy of China.
