bwilogoOne month after setting a new all-time monthly record for passenger traffic, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport today reported that 2,194,399 passengers traveled through the Airport in August.  That figure, an increase of 5 percent over August 2014, was a new August record for passenger traffic at BWI Marshall.

“With this summer in the record books, growth at BWI Marshall continues to demonstrate the strength of Maryland and its position as an international gateway,” said Governor Larry Hogan.  “BWI Marshall is a principal economic engine for the State of Maryland and the entire region.”

Leading the way once again in August was international passenger traffic, which recorded another strong, double-digit increase of nearly 32 percent.  A major capital improvement, the D/E Connector program, is underway in order to increase international capacity and to provide new passenger services.

“This summer, our airlines and our passenger traffic affirmed that BWI Marshall is a world-class destination for business and leisure travelers,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall.  “We are working to improve the airport experience with new airlines, new nonstop service, and exciting passenger amenities.”

A number of BWI Marshall airlines experienced passenger growth for the month of August, including:  American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada, British Airways and Condor.
