Glen Burnie man involved in Annapolis shooting on Newtowne Drive

shootingOn Saturday, October 17th at 11:07pm officers received a call for shots fired in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive.  Officers located Kwazia Mitchell, 22, of Glen Burnie who had been shot once in the leg.  Mitchell reported that he was standing in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive when an unknown subject started shooting at him. 

Mitchell was transported to The University of Maryland Hospital Shock Trauma, treated, and released.  Mitchell had two outstanding warrants, one for failing to appear in court for driving offenses and one for a violation of probation on a destruction of property conviction.  After he was released from Shock Trauma he was arrested on the warrants. 

Through their investigation detectives were able to determine that Mitchell was also shooting during this incident.  Mitchell was charged with discharging a firearm and other related offenses.  He is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on a temporary commitment.
