The Annapolis Film Festival is hosting a special screening of Frame by Frame at the Annapolis Harbour 9 movie theatre on Solomons Island Road in Annapolis on Wednesday,AFF15_webAD_250x300-ms October 28, at 7:00 pm.  Tickets at just $10.50 can be purchased through www.gathr.us/films/frame-by-frame. Space is limited so early reservations are encouraged.

The Hollywood Reporter calls this documentary by the female director/producer team of Alexandria Bombach and Mo Scarpelli “artful and empathetic…powerful.” This screening is one night only and one of just a handful in the Baltimore/Washington area.

When the Taliban made photography in Afghanistan illegal, a countryman lamented, “If a country is without photography, that country is without an identity.” After the regime fell from power in 2001, a fledgling free press emerged and a photography revolution was born.

As the foreign troops and media withdraw, Afghanistan is left to stand on its own, and so are its journalists. Set in a modern Afghanistan bursting with color and character, Frame by Frame follows four Afghan photojournalists as they navigate an emerging and dangerous media landscape, reframing Afghanistan for the world, and for themselves.

This 2015 film has been an audience favorite at many film festivals including Best Doc at Camden IFF, a nominee for the Grierson award at BFI London, and an award winner at a dozen other film festivals. Through cinema vérité, intimate interviews, powerful photojournalism, and never-before-seen archival footage shot in secret during the Taliban regime, the film connects audiences with four humans in the pursuit of the truth.

Visit www.framebyframethefilm.com for more information about the film and www.gathr.us to purchase tickets. Monies raised from this screening will go to benefit The Annapolis Film Festival which will take place in downtown Annapolis March 31 to April 3, 2016.
