Update: From the AACoFD
The two occupants killed in a dwelling fire early this morning in Severna Park have been identified. Killed in the fire were:
- Pauline Naylor, 44
- William Burnapp III, 11
The victims are mother and son.
Around 1:45 this morning firefighters were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire in the 100 block of Benfield Road. The first arriving units encountered heavy fire from the rear of a single story, single family, rancher style dwelling. Firefighters immediately made entry and removed two unconscious victims from the front bedroom of the dwelling. The victims were determined to be deceased on the scene.
The single alarm fire was brought under control by 40 firefighters in about 30 minutes. There were no other occupants home at the time of the fire and threre were no other injuries. Damages are estimated at approximately $250,000 and the structure is a complete loss. Investigators from the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit are on the scene and the investigation into the fire is active and ongoing.
No additional updates are expected today.
Just before 2am this morning, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Benfield Road (across from SPHS) for a house fire.
On arrival, crews saw heavy fire coming from a large single story residence and mounted an immediate attack. Shortly after 2am, the fire had damaged the building so bad that crews were evacuated and an exterior attack was initiated and the fire brought under control and two victims were discovered.
These deaths represent the 11th and 12th fire victims of the year.
