Former Capital editor joins Hospice of the Chesapeake communications team

marcussenHospice of the Chesapeake today announced Elyzabeth Marcussen has joined the organization as its Communications Specialist for Media effective September 14, 2015.

Marcussen previously was the Community News Editor for Capital Gazette Newspapers. 

A resident of Pasadena, Marcussen started at the Maryland Gazette as its Pasadena correspondent, eventually becoming Community News Editor before adding The Capital to her responsibilities. As an active member of the Abundant Life Church community, Marcussen also is involved in organizing food collection drives for local pantries and helping with the church’s annual Winter Relief efforts for Arundel House of Hope.

“We are excited to add Elyzabeth to our communications team,” said Sandra Dillon, Director of Communications and Business Development. “We are confident her connections with the community both as a community news editor and through her volunteer work will help us share Hospice of the Chesapeake’s message with traditional media as well as through nonprofit networks.”

“Marcussen said the career move is a great honor. “I feel I know a lot about the organization having watched it grow during my time as an editor. I already feel a great sense of purpose knowing I will be part of a group dedicated to making the final stages of life as peaceful and meaningful as possible for patients and their families.”

Hospice of the Chesapeake served more than 5,000 individuals over the last 12 months through its many programs and services, including hospice and palliative care as well as grief support.
