bwilogoSix new firefighters for the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department graduated earlier this month from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Training Academy.  The graduates were honored during a ceremony at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park, along with 59 recruits from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

“These skilled, talented recruits are now prepared to join the ranks of the BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall.  “We welcome their service on behalf of our travelers, employees, and the local community.  Our Fire and Rescue Department is committed to excellence, and we look forward to working with our new firefighters.”

The new BWI Marshall Airport firefighters attended the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Training Academy.  The academy provides a demanding, 21-week program to prepare entry-level personnel to become firefighters.  The new personnel received intensive academic and physical training to acquire the skills to respond to fires and emergency medical services.

“I congratulate our six new firefighters for their hard work and commitment, and I wish them the very best in their careers at BWI Marshall,” said Victor Ferreira, Chief of the BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department.  “I would like to acknowledge and thank Anne Arundel County Fire Chief Graves and his personnel for working with us to train these talented individuals.”

The six new BWI Marshall Airport firefighters are: Aron Arrington, Josue Ceballos, Andrew Dipietro, Michael Dowling, Alexandra Garcia, and Donald Roberts.  The personnel will be assigned to shifts within the BWI Marshall Fire and Rescue Department to receive further specialized training.
