5 involved in possible hate crime in Glen Burnie

assaultOn September 26, 2015 at approximately 2:43 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to an apartment located in the 100 block of Faywood Court for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they met with a male witness, who stated that his boyfriend had been assaulted by several members of the witness’ family.

Detectives met with the victim at BWMC while he was seeking treatment for his injuries. The investigation determined that this altercation stemmed from an ongoing dispute over the victim’s “lifestyle”. The victim originally encountered three of the suspects while walking down the street. Later on in the evening another suspect came to the victim’s house to talk about the earlier argument. While at the residence, another argument took place. The victim began trying to push the suspect out of his residence. At this time, the suspect held open the door while the other four suspects rushed into the house. Once inside, they began assaulting the victim with sticks and poles. As a result, the victim sustained cuts to his head and a fractured nose.

Detectives were able to identify all 5 of the suspects involved. Based on the nature and motive behind this assault, the States Attorney was consulted and the appropriate charges were applied. Detectives obtained warrants for the following 5 suspects:
