A county police officer was injured this morning in a multi-vehicle crash along I-97 southbound at the Route 32 exit. Police have not released a report, and have not said how many vehicles were involved, but witnesses said they believed there were two cars and a van. However, the officer was rear-ended and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
He was flown to Shock-Trauma with serious injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.
I-97 was shut down in both directions for approximately 30 minutes, and the southbound lanes remained closed for another 90 minutes while police did their investigation.
